Privacy policy

• Account and messages: your phone number, name, the messages you send Motis (iMessage, SMS, WhatsApp, email or the app), and Motis's replies.
• Bank data (if you connect a bank): balances and transactions, read-only, through Plaid. We never see your bank password.
• Transfers (if you turn them on): identity details for verification (typed only on our secure page and passed to our payments partner; we don't store your Social Security number or date of birth) and the transfers you approve.
• Credit and debts (if you connect them): your credit report and loan details, through a soft pull that doesn't affect your score.
• Google account (if you connect it): your Gmail and Google Calendar, as described in the next section.
• Your Motis email address: emails Motis sends and receives for you, such as messages to a company during a bill fight or bills you forward.
• Fights and cases: what Motis did for you, calls and emails with companies, evidence, outcomes and money won, so you can see everything and so we can bill our share of wins.
• Location (only if you share it): used for things like nearby errands, never for advertising.
• Basic technical data: error logs and usage counts that keep the service working and secure.

If you connect Google, you choose which permissions to allow on Google's own page. Motis asks for:

• Read your email to spot bills, receipts, renewals, price increases and replies from companies, so Motis can act on them (for example, flagging a bill that went up or matching a company's reply to the fight it belongs to).
• Send email from your account, only when you've approved that message (or told Motis it may send that kind of message on its own).
• See and add calendar events to keep due dates, appointments and deadlines straight.

Motis reads only what it needs for the task (usually the sender, subject and a short preview) and keeps only what's part of your cases, such as a confirmation number or a bill amount. It does not keep a copy of your inbox.

Motis's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

• We use Google data only to provide and improve the features you use in Motis.
• We never use Google data for advertising, never sell it, and never let people read it, except with your permission, for security, or where the law requires.
• We never use Google data to train AI models. The AI models that power Motis process it only to answer you, under contracts that don't allow training on it.
• You can disconnect anytime: text Motis "disconnect Google" or remove access in your Google account settings. Disconnecting cancels our access at Google and deletes the stored connection.

• To do what you ask and what you've allowed Motis to do on its own: find savings, fight bills, track refunds, run errands.
• To ask for your approval before anything that commits you, and to require Face ID before any money moves.
• To keep a complete record of what Motis did for you.
• To prevent fraud, keep accounts secure and fix problems.
• To meet legal obligations.

We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to rank offers for anyone's benefit but yours.

We share data only with service providers that help run Motis, each limited to what its job needs:

• Plaid (bank connections), Dwolla (transfers between your own accounts), Spinwheel (credit and debts)
• Google (Gmail and Calendar, when you connect them) and AgentMail (your Motis email address)
• Photon and Meta (messaging over iMessage, SMS and WhatsApp)
• AI model providers, which process messages to generate replies and aren't allowed to train on your data
• Vercel (hosting), Neon (database) and Sentry (error monitoring)

Companies Motis contacts for you (like your internet provider) receive only what's needed for that request.

Sensitive tokens (like bank and Google access) are encrypted at rest. Sensitive details are typed only on our secure pages, never in chat. Every action Motis takes is logged in a tamper-evident record, and money never moves without your Face ID.

• See what Motis knows about you, or export it: text Motis or email us.
• Delete your data: text Motis "delete my data" or email us. We delete it within 30 days, except records the law requires us to keep.
• Disconnect any account (bank, Google, credit) at any time.
• Stop messages anytime by texting STOP.
